4thGrade Boys drop a close game to Halifax, now 5-2
The team played well in a 23-19 loss to Halifax. The Teams were evenly matched and battles in a close game with many lead changes. Pembroke was short two players and got in to foul trouble in the second half but hung tough. Pembroke controlled the tempo of the game for much of the first half and had numerous opportunities to score but the ball rolled in and out of the rim tonight and it was not the Titan’s night. Tyler Spencer and Duke Lenaghan played allot of minutes and did a good job rebounding against a bigger team. Both of them also had multiple blocked shots in the game. Duke chipped in with a few (3) points as well. John Heeran and Max McCarthy had 4 points and Robert Raleigh had 3. Will Cournan did a nice job rebounding and came up with a few key rebounds during the game. Jared played a solid game and pitched in at point guard for a while.
4thGrade Boys Defeat Norwell 19-16 to improve to 5-1 in league action.
The Pembroke Boys played an intense contest against a scrappy Norwell team tonight. Chris Spellman had a break out game and led all Pembroke scorers with 6 points. Max McCarthy did a great job handling the ball against a tough Norwell defender. Duke Lenaghan, Tyler Spencer and Sean Dahlquist exploited Pembroke’s size advantage with allot of rebounds and blocked shots on defense. Jared Marini, Tyler Spencer and Max McCarthy each chipped in with 4 points. The game was sealed when Robert Raleigh, Max McCarthy and Jared Marini executed a four corners offense to perfection in the final minute. They all handled the ball, made good hand off’s to each other and burned 20 plus seconds off the clock before getting a good opportunity. This left Norwell with little time and a two basket deficit.
4thGrade Boys Defeat Duxbury and are now 4-1 in league action
The team played a very good game. Sean Dahlquist had a break out offensive performance with 8 points. Pembroke played a solid team offise and was stout on defense only allowing Duxbury 10 total points. Only four of those points came form field goals. The team shot well from field and played a good fast break offense.
4thGrade Boys Suffe r first league loss to Hanover now 3-1
The 4thGrade Boys lost their first league game of the year when they fell to Hanover 37-19. Duke Lenaghan and John Heeran had strong games. Duke scored pembroke’s initial basket and played good defense all game. John led the Pembroke scoring with six points.
The 4thGrade Boys improved to 3-0 with a convincing 26-14 win over East Bridgewater.
Max McCarthy led all scorers with 7 points and John Heeran had 6. John Heeran played great one on one defense against East Bridgewater’s best player in the second half. The group of John Heeran, Duke Lenaghan, Chris Spellman, Jared Marini and Tommy Hickie broke the game open for Pembroke in the second half. They turned what was a close game into a comfortable 8 point margin when they left the floor.
Another week, another win!
The Boys 4thgrade travel team improved to 2-0 with a nail biting 21-20 win over Halifax. The team was led by the solid defense of Sean Dahlquist, Max McCarthy and Tommy Hickey. After being down 10-2 in the opening ten minutes the team fought back and after a Jared Marini buzzer beater at the end of the first half, Pembroke went into the half down 12-10.
In the second half the defense was excellent and Robert Raleigh and John Heeran had timely buckets that helped seal the game.
Christmas Tournament results in two close losses.
The team lost two games by two points each. The first game against Plymouth North went to overtime and Pembroke lost 22-20. In the second half, Chris Spellman and Robert Raleigh played good defense to limit Plymouth North’s top scorer and keep Pembroke in the game. Sean Dahlquist, John Heeran and Tyler Spencer all chipped in with 4 points.
In the second game the score was the same. Pembroke fell to Barnstable 22-20. The team was down by 8 points to start the game but fought back. John Heeran hit the first three pointer of the year and at the half the game was close at 14-13. In the waning seconds, Pembroke had a good look which could have tied or won the game and the ball just rolled out. It was a good competitive game. Tyler Spenver and Duke Lenaghan played excellent defense on a very talented Barnstable big man. Tyler, Tommy Hickey and Duke all had multiple blocks in the game. Tyler, Max McCarthy and Sean Dahlquist all had 4 points.
