The Pembroke Food Pantry is an outstanding organization that works during these hard economic times to assist needy families in Pembroke. The summer is historically a tough time for the Pembroke Food Pantry to keep its shelves stocked. Pembroke Youth Basketball has been involved with and assisted many local nonprofit and fundraising agencies including the Jett Foundation, The Pembroke Military Support Group, the Carol Mont Children’s Fund just to name a few. This summer Pembroke Youth Basketball will be holding a food drive at all summer league games the weeks of July 12th and 19th. A box labeled “PYB Food Drive” will be located at the outdoor courts at the Pembroke Community Center during all the games the weeks of July 12th and 19th.
Please make an effort to bring what non perishable food items or other items you can spare to a game and drop them in the box during our food drive. In particular the Pembroke Food Pantry is in need of the following items: all types of cleaning supplies; health and beauty aids such as bar shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste and deodorant; paper products such as toilet tissue, paper towels, napkins and tissues. Thanks in advance for helping us put something other than basketballs in baskets.
For more information contact Robert Raleigh at rob_raleigh@yahoo.com or Tim Riley at mojoagogo@msn.com.
Please print the list HERE and take it with you on your next shopping trip. Be sure to fill out the entry form at the top and drop it and into the collection bin along with your items for a chance to win a “Thank you” basket of candy generously donated by our friends at “The Candy Jar”.

2nd Pembroke Youth Basketball reaching out to Other Pembroke’s PYB Shirt Drive
In these difficult economic times many youth sports and other nonprofit organizations are struggling to make ends meet. Last winter, Pembroke Youth Basketball’s Tim Riley (Director for the Girls grades 7. 8 and 9 In-Town division) decided to reach out to other communities that share the same municipal name as our very own Pembroke. The drive was a success and as a result, Tim is spearheading another extra jersey drive again this winter.
There are hundreds of families in Pembroke who every season gets for one or multiple children a crisp new Pembroke Youth Basketball reversible shirt. After they are worn in the heat of competition these shirt are usually retired to the bottom of a drawer of the back of a closet.
- If you have extra shirts please contact: Tim Riley at 781-293-0395 or via email at pembrokeb@gmail.com. You can drop them off at Rob Raleigh’s at 65 Wintergreen.
Additionally, you can bring your extra shirts to your child’s basketball game and give them to your teams coach and we will arrange pickup. Please put the shirts in a bag labeled “PYB Shirt Drive”.
Last season we sent jerseys to the Oldham House in Pembroke NC and the Boys and Girls club of Pembroke Ontario Canada.
