PYB helping other Pembrokes with a used PYB shirt drive

by Rob Raleigh on Mar.07, 2009, under PYB News

Pembroke Youth Basketball reaching out to Other Pembroke’s PYB Shirt Drive

In these difficult economic times many youth sports and other nonprofit organizations are struggling to make ends meet. Pembroke Youth Basketballs Tim Riley (Director for the Girls grades 5 and 6 in town division) decided to reach out to other communities that share the same municipal name as our very own Pembroke. As a result, Tim is spearheading an extras shirt drive.

There are hundreds of families in Pembroke who every season gets for one or multiple children a crisp new Pembroke Youth Basketball reversible shirt. After they are worn in the heat of competition these shirt are usually retired to the bottom of a drawer of the back of a closet.

If you have extra shirts please contact: Tim Riley at 781-293-0395 or via email at mojoagogo@msn.com.

Additionally, you can bring your extra shirts to your child’s basketball game and give them to your teams coach and we will arrange pickup. Please put the shirts in a bag labeled “PYB Shirt Drive”.

Please have all shirts turned in by March 27h.

The organizations that will put these shirts back in to the heat of competition with kids who need them are:

The Boys and Girls clubs of Canada, Pembroke, Ontario

Boys and Girls Clubs are community generated, “grass roots” organizations governed by volunteer boards of directors. Boys and Girls Clubs across the country offer a wide range of programs and services to young people. Each club determines for itself what programs will be offered, based on the needs and desires of children and youth, and services already available in a community. All Boys and Girls Club services are participatory in nature and non-competitive, so that all who get involved fully enjoy the benefits of having fun in a safe and friendly environment.
