PYB relies on many dedicated volunteers to provide programs covering about eight months a year. These programs can be segmented into four primary groups as follows:
Travel Teams
The travel teams are selected on the basis of tryouts for individual grade levels. Travel teams play in regional leagues which provide a more competitive environment to complement the instructional emphasis of the scheduled practice sessions. In addition to league play, there is often an opportunity to play in tournaments as well. This year for the first time, Pembroke fielded two travel teams for each grade level from 4th grade to 8th grade, boys & girls. Get on the email list to be advised of locations, dates and times.
In-Town Winter Leagues
Winter programs generally run from late November to early March. The weekday evening games are scheduled at the Pembroke Middle School gym or one of the elementary school gyms depending on the age group. There are divisions to cover kids from 2nd grade up to 9th grade. Sign-ups are held each October. Get on the email list to be advised of locations, dates and times.
In-Town Summer Leagues
Summer programs generally run from early June to late August. The evening games are scheduled under the lights of the outdoor courts adjacent to the Community Center for age groups ranging from incoming 4th graders to high schoolers .
Skills Clinics
Pembroke Youth Basketball is also offering seasonal skills clinics. These clinic take place in the late summer and winter. The goal of the skills clinic will be to offer kids a format in which they can be taught the skills necessary to improve their games. Please see the Skills Clinics page on this website for more information.
